Effective September 18, 2026Proctoring Consent Policy
This policy explains what Evalynq's optional monitoring features actually do, and how your consent to them works. The binding consent moment itself is always the explicit checkbox(es) you tick during your own preflight flow, immediately before any monitoring begins — this page describes what that consent covers, in plain terms, before you get there.
1
Monitoring is opt-in, twice over
- Camera monitoring is only active for an assessment if the hiring organization has turned it on for that specific assessment — it is never on by default.
- Even then, it only activates after you separately, explicitly consent via your own dedicated, unticked checkbox before starting — never bundled into a general terms acceptance, and never silently enabled.
- Screen-share monitoring, where an assessment uses it, requires its own separate explicit consent, distinct from camera consent.
2
What monitoring actually captures
- Before your timed assessment starts, your camera is tested and a one-time, guided room scan captures four still images — one per room corner — as a workspace baseline for a human reviewer.
- During the assessment, periodic webcam snapshots are taken at a disclosed interval, plus an immediate snapshot when a specific event occurs (the tab is hidden, the window loses focus, or you exit fullscreen).
- Browser and device events are logged: tab visibility changes, window focus/blur, fullscreen enter/exit, copy/paste/right-click attempts, online/offline transitions, and user-agent changes.
- Where screen-share monitoring is enabled and consented to, periodic screen captures are taken the same way webcam snapshots are.
3
What monitoring deliberately does not do
- No continuous video recording — only discrete still images at disclosed moments.
- No facial recognition, and no automatic identification of you, a second person, or a second device.
- No automatic cheating accusation, and no automatic recruitment decision of any kind. Every signal above only ever produces an advisory concern score that routes your attempt for human review — it never makes or applies a decision by itself.
4
If you decline consent
If an assessment requires camera and/or screen-share consent and you decline, you will not be able to start that specific assessment through the monitored path. If you have a concern about this — for example, an accessibility or privacy reason a standard flow doesn't accommodate — contact the organization that invited you before your access window closes; accommodations are handled by them, since they control the assessment.
5
Retention and access
- Proctoring evidence (webcam snapshots, room-scan images, screen captures) is deleted automatically once the retention period the organization configured for that assessment elapses — 30 days by default.
- Evidence is stored privately and is never public. Only staff at the inviting organization who are assigned to your assessment can view it, exclusively through short-lived, signed access links, and every view is logged.
- For your broader data rights, see our Candidate Privacy Notice and Privacy Policy.

If anything about monitoring for your specific assessment is unclear, the organization that invited you is best placed to answer since they configured it. You can also contact us at support@evalynq.com.
